Home School Or Public School

WHY HOME SCHOOL? If you are one of the many people asking that question then you need to read this article. People sometimes ask why you would want to burden yourself down with teaching your kids at home. You make think that the education is not up to pare with the public school system or else you might think that there is no contact between other kids and these things will hurt them when they grow up and go out into the real world. I know because I have heard it all before. I have been close to the issue of home schooling over the years and I want to say this, Home schooling is a good alternative if a parent wants to go that way. In fact if I had kids of school age that is the way I would go. Here is the reason why.

I have two grandsons who are being homed schooled. My daughter in law is doing the teaching and if I may say is doing a great job. The kids are taught the government approved set of courses everyday and on most Fridays they meet with other kids who are homed schooled, from their church, and have interaction and communication with them. My grandsons live in a Christian home, which is another great thing. To my surprise my oldest grandson who is seven can read from the KJV Bible with near about complete ease. Now if you are asking me if he can do that with some other book, my answer is yes he can. He is just as good with the rest of the subjects which he is taking.

Why not public school? I personally do not think that he could do as well in a public school for a lot of reasons, the main one being that his teacher (my daughter-in-law) has only two people to teach, not 25 or 30 kids as the teachers in a public school system do. She will also show them more attention. I can remember when I went to public school some of the teachers showed a lot of favoritism and if you were not in favor then you had to get the learning just about on your own. Now some of you are going to say that it is not so, but to be fair and honest it is so. I’m not saying that all teachers show favoritism , because there are some dedicated teachers in the public school system who do a outstanding job and should be given a thumbs up, But some teachers do show favoritism. The teachers that do not show favoritism has to do more controlling over the class than they do teaching.

It is really hard and stressful on young kids in school these days. In fact I personally think that it could be dangerous also. I know now some of you are thinking that I’m stretching it, but am I? I have read several times in the past month or heard on the local TV news where different schools are on lock down. How many home school kids are on lock down in their homes when they are being home schooled?

The schools that we attended are not the same as they are now. When we went to school  the biggest problem was getting caught chewing gum in the hall or somebody getting caught smoking in the bathroom. We did not have a police officer guarding the hall, to keep things safe, like there are in schools today. We did not have gangs roaming the halls and controlling the school as most schools do now. We did not have disrespect for teacher like we do now. In most schools right now we have drugs of every type being sold and used right in the halls of our schools. But yet we have some liberals who are resisting the privilege of some people to give their kids a decent education at home where there is no violence or drugs. The stress on kids today in public schools is over whelming. Like what was brought forth earlier in this article when your child goes to school he is faced everyday with potential violence, drugs, peer pressure, and that is all before the class room study starts. Not so if they are homed schooled. The public school system, no matter what some people might say, can no longer ensure the safety of your kids or my grandkids. That is not only a general statement, but a statement of fact. Just look at the statistics.

I have no problem with anybody that wants to send their kids to the public school system. That is their choice and their right. But  parents have a choice and a right also to home school their children and nobody should have a problem with that, including the government. To each their own choice. After seeing the results of my grandkids learning in the home school environment and also knowing that they are much safer I’m am very proud of my son and daughter-in-law for making that choice. Thank the Lord that we live in a country that allows us that choice!

A True American

For years now The Duke has been on my short list of favorite actors. I have bought just about all of his movies. There was just something that I liked about the man so I decided that I would see what he was all about. As I was doing some research and fact finding on the web about him I found out some interesting things about this man and I decided that he deserved an article about him on this conservative page. Wayne liked acting out parts that made him who he was. What you see on the screen was basically who he was in real life. He was a true American first and then a conservative second. He did have, as one of his movies was called, "TRUE GRIT" He would speak out loud and clear on the major issues of his day. Below are some of the things that I found out about John Wayne on www.wikipedia.org. He truly was, besides being a good actor, a True American. We need more conservative actors and true Americans in Hollywood, today, like John Wayne. Then as I looked deeper into the actors of the past most all of them were conservatives like The Duke. Let's talk about John Wayne being we started out with him. After reading about him I wondered, what has happened in Hollywood today with some of these people that call their selves actors? I wonder what The Duke would say about Hollywood today! All I can say is after reading his history "He was a man that loved his country and was very out spoken about how he felt."

The Duke was a conservative
Republican and a true American He was a committed anti-communist, and spoken supporter of the House Un-American Activities Committee. In 1951, he made Big Jim McLain to show his support for the anti-communist cause. He also claimed to have been influential in having Carl Foreman
blacklisted from Hollywood after the release of the anti-McCarthyism western High Noon, and later teamed up with Howard Hawks to make Rio Bravo as a right-wing response. A supporter of then Vice President
Richard Nixon's bid for the White House, he famously showed his vision of loyalty for this country when John F. Kennedy won the election The Duke said, "I didn't vote for him but he's my president, and I hope he does a good job." I wonder how many of the actors today that never voted for Bush would say the same thing.

John Wayne used his star position as a star to support conservative causes, including rallying support for the Vietnam War by producing, co-directing, and starring in the critically acclaimed and highly praised movie, The Green Berets. He was not like Jane Fonda Who made her films sitting on top of a North Vietnam Tank waving the enemies flag while our soldiers were dying on the battle field. Due to his enormous popularity, and his status as the most famous Republican star in Hollywood, prosperous Texas Republican Party backers asked Wayne to run for national office in 1968, as had his friend and fellow actor, Senator George Murphy. He declined, joking that he did not believe the public would seriously consider an actor in the White House. However, he did support his friend Ronald Reagan's runs for Governor of California in 1966 and 1970. He was also asked to be the running mate for Democratic Alabama Governor George Wallace in 1968. Wayne passionately rejected the offer because of his beliefs that all people are created equal. Wayne actively campaigned for Richard Nixon, and when Nixon lost to Kennedy, The Duke said "I never voted for him, but he is my president. I hope he does a good job." I wonder how many actors today would say the same thing about President Bush! John Wayne also addressed the Republican National Convention on its opening day in August 1968. Wayne also was a member of the conservative and anti-communist John Birch Society. The next thing I found out, while I was researching John Wayne was his strong anti-communist politics led to a particularly frightening and alarming situation. Information from Soviet archives, reported in 2003, indicates, in black and white, that Joseph Stalin ordered Wayne's assassination and elimination, but died before the killing could be accomplished. His successor, Nikita Khrushchev, evidently told Wayne during a 1958 visit to the United States that he had personally rescinded, putting a stop, to the order. Wayne was so out spoken about his stand on communism that Stalin wanted him dead. What does that tell you about the man?

In an interview with Playboy magazine in May 1971, Wayne made controversial remarks. He noted that, as someone living in the 20th Century, he was certainly not responsible, nor was anybody else for the way people, who lived one hundred years before him, had treated Native Americans and he was so right. In the second comment he made, he noted that African-Americans had been deprived of educational opportunities and he resented that fact, but he went on to say that past mistreatment did not give good reason for turning over positions of responsibility and accountability to blacks on the basis of skin color alone without regard to the ability, schooling and training to fill the position. He believed that the best qualified person, capable of doing the job, should get the position no matter what the color of their skin was. How right he was again. John Wayne had a open mine and he spoke the truth and always did what was right. He was so popular in his day and still is well liked today, even after his death, not just because of his acting ability, which was superb, not because of his conservatism, not because he was a republican, but because he was proud to be an American and John Wayne, my friend, was a true American.

America: The Good Neighbor.

An Article By
Ed Ramsey

Widespread but only partial news coverage was given  recently to a remarkable editorial broadcast from Toronto by Gordon Sinclair, a Canadian television commentator. What follows is the full text of his trenchant remarks as printed in the Congressional Record: "This Canadian thinks it is time to speak up for the Americans as the most generous and possibly the least appreciated people on all the earth."

Germany, Japan and, to a lesser extent, Britain and Italy were lifted out of the debris of war by the Americans who poured in billions of dollars and forgave other billions in debts. None of these countries is today paying even the interest on its remaining debts to the United States. When France was in danger of collapsing in 1956, it was the Americans who propped it up, and their reward was to be insulted and swindled on the streets of Paris. I was there. I saw it.

When earthquakes hit distant cities, it is the United States that hurries in to help. This spring, 59 American communities were flattened by tornadoes.  Nobody helped. The Marshall Plan and the Truman Policy pumped billions of dollars into discouraged countries.  Now newspapers in those countries are writing about the decadent, warmongering Americans. I'd like to see just one of those countries that is gloating over the erosion of the United States dollar build its own airplane. Does any other country in the world have a plane to equal the Boeing Jumbo Jet, the Lockheed Tri-Star, or the Douglas DC10?  If so, why don't they fly them? Why do all the International lines except Russia fly American Planes?

Why does no other land on earth even consider putting a man or woman on the moon? You talk about Japanese technocracy, and you get radios. You talk about German technocracy, and you get automobiles.  You talk about American technocracy, and you find men on the moon - not once, but several times - and safely home again. You talk about scandals, and the Americans put theirs right in the store window for everybody to look at.  Even their draft-dodgers are not pursued and hounded.  They are here on our streets, and most of them, unless they are breaking Canadian laws, are getting American dollars from ma and pa at home to spend here.

When the railways of France, Germany and India were breaking down through age, it was the Americans who rebuilt them. When the
Pennsylvania Railroad and the New York Central went broke, nobody loaned them an old caboose.  Both are still broke. I can name you 5000 times when the Americans raced to the help of other people in trouble. Can you name me even one time when someone else raced to the Americans in trouble?  I don't think there was outside help even during the San Francisco earthquake.

Our neighbors have faced it alone, and I'm one Canadian who is darn tired of hearing them get kicked around. They will come out of this
thing with their flag high. And when they do, they are entitled to thumb their nose at the lands that are gloating over their present troubles. I hope Canada is not one of those."

Stand proud, America!  The next time someone begins to speak badly of your great country, show them this and ask them where else they could live that does so much.

If The Shoe Fits Wear It

I never was so upset with the news media as I was this week. I have finally give up hope for them. They are certainly not like they were years ago when you could read a news paper or listen to news over the radio or TV and know that they were fair and balanced in their reporting. They are getting so ridiculous with their stories that the average American does not even want to hear or read them. When I go down to the coffee shop that is all a person hears, " How one sided the news is." Most people are beginning to think that the news agencies are a joke. It is sad to say that about 90% of all news outlets in this country are liberal in their views and that is certainly not right for them to be that way. Most people, like me, do not want to know how the news services feel about something, all we want is the straight down the road reporting and the whole story, not just the part that helps their cause along. That we rarely get anymore. The American Citizen does not need the news agencies trying to shape the policies of this country or our mind. Please do not be so narrow minded that you cannot see that this is what they are trying to do. Listen, I'm not writing to you today as a Republican or a Democrat. I'm a independent and most important an American. So what I'm writing is coming from a upset American, not a Republican or Democrat.

The latest example of their one sidedness was their story on a Iraqi man throwing a shoe at President Bush during a news conference in the Green Zone. They made the story into a joke and it was ever so funny or that is how they wanted it to come across. Over and over again we heard this story. Now if this happened to our new president elect would they still report it this way? No of course not, there would be major headlines saying that he was attacked and make it look like the world was coming to a end. They would report the story completely different. As Americans we need to stand up and do whatever it takes to get some honest and fair reporting. You have reporters who get weak, want to faint, get goose bumps, and who knows what else when they report on our president elect. No wonder some people are calling him the messiah! What's next? That is just how one sided they are.

We now see where the liberal congress is trying to silence the few remaining talk show host that we can listen to for the truth. The only news that I will listen to these days besides Fox News, who by the way is a fair and balanced news station, and know what I hear is the truth is talk show hosts such as Tom Marr, Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, and many others that come on that WCBM 840 radio station. They are not left or right, but straight down the middle. I'm sure that there is other stations that report the truth, but this is the one that I count on to hear what is right. As far as I'm concerned no news is better than most of the news that we are getting from the major networks and major news papers. If any news reporters read this article then I have one thing to say to you: "If the shoe fits, wear it!"

Mom, The Doctor Is Here

Mom, The doctors here! How many reading this article can remember that? This writer sure can. I can remember if you were to sick to go to the doctor's office the doctor and his little black bag would come to your house. When he left, he left you with medicine from his little black bag and a bill to be paid as soon as you could. He also charged you by what he thought that you could pay. He knew most of his people that he cared for and how they lived. He was a doctor that did his job because of his compassion for the sick. He was not wealthy. He was just a middle class person doing a job that he loved because he had compassion for the people.

No matter what the problem was, unless it was serious, he would take care of you, anything from removing small growths, to setting broken bones, to stitching you up. The doctor or his wife was always there to answer the phone and give you some advice as to what to do about a sickness or they would tell you to come to the office. They would always call you back later just to check on you. They were concerned for the people under their care. You had this feeling of someone that was caring and compassionate. Where did all this go? I tell you where it went, "OUT THE DOOR"

The medical field has changed so much that you just do not get that type of care anymore. What care we get is good and the best in the world, but my friends in my heart there is something that bothers me. The medical profession in my opinion has turned its back on compassion and it is all for the money. Why do I say this? I have been in some doctor's offices that have a sign, money first, or payment due on day of visit. I know people who call for a doctor and cannot be seen because they do not have insurance or the money to pay for the visit. What a shame. I have seen people at the emergency room that needs to be admitted and the medical staff will give them a aspirin and send them home, because of no medical insurance. If that same person had medical insurance they would have been admitted and given the best of care. Do I see a double standard here? Yes I do.

The hospitals and most doctors would not admit this but you and I know that it is so. I know that hospitals and doctors need money to keep going, but I have to ask this question: "WHAT IS A HUMAN LIFE WORTH?" What should be more important to them, (1) Money first and then patient care second, or (2) Patient care first and money second. I'm getting ready to make a bold statement that some might disagree with. THE UNTIED STATES HAS THE BEST MEDICAL CARE IN THE WORLD IF YOU HAVE MEDICAL INSURANCE, BUT IF YOU DO NOT HAVE MEDICAL INSURANCE CAN YOU STILL SAY THAT? ASK ANYONE THAT DOES NOT HAVE INSURANCE AND SEE WHAT THEY SAY! THEY WILL TELL YOU WHAT KIND OF CARE THEY GET MOST OF THE TIME.

Not all in the medical field are that way. My family doctor is a very good man and he does what he can for you. He is one of the few that will. I know what I have said to be true because I have taken many a person to the doctor or hospital for medical care that had no medical insurance and I witnessed myself the difference of care between the has and has
no ts as far as medical insurance goes. Believe me there is a difference. However we can not put all the blame on the medical field.

The Federal Government can bail out all the big corporations and send men into space but they can not figure out how to help the people in this nation who have no health insurance. What a shame. The only thing they can come up with is socialized medical care and that will never work. I guess instead of bailing out the American Citizen the next step for the government is to bail out THE HEALTH INSURANCE INDUSTRY.

The Right Way or The Wrong Way

As we look and become upset with all the illegal people coming into this country of ours there are some people who are even more upset. Let me explain. My son and I were on a service call to fix an elderly lady's electric. We are both electricians by trade and have a small business of our own. She was a very elderly women in her late eighties. Her and her husband bought the house where she resided, in 1946, and have lived there ever since. While we were there she had Fox news on the TV and it was showing Mexicans sneaking across the border illegally. To my surprise this elderly women became very upset and said it is not right for them to do that. She was very upset about the people coming into this country illegally. Upon talking to her a little bit more she walked me over to a wall in her living room and then very proudly showed my son and I two certificates in beautiful wooden frames. In those frames were certificates certifying that she and her husband, who was now passed away, legally entered the United States Of America through Ellis Island. She was so proud of those certificates. She said to me, "Why can't they do the same thing?" She said, " My husband and I both had to learn the English language. We learnt the American way of life. It is not fair, she said, to all of us who came here the right way. We had to wait our turn. Why can't they wait there turn like we did. "She asked my son and I, "What is coming over this wonder country". You know that I could not answer her question, because I keep asking myself the same thing.

We still have people coming into this country the right way, but then we have over ten million illegals coming here the wrong way and what is our country doing about it. NOTHING, THAT'S WHAT. These people are flat out breaking the law and nothing is done about it. If someone is found discriminating against another person, they will go to jail in a heart beat, but not if you are a person who is here illegal. Now why is that when both laws are just as important? Is there something wrong here or am I missing something? Well in my opinion and a lot of other Americans there is something deftly wrong.

It is December 2, 2008 as I write this article. This country is now and have been for sometime in a recession that is costing people their jobs, homes, and their future, but there is still no stopping the illegals from crossing the border and coming here. The borders are still open to some degree. This government has only put a bandage on the problem and a small one at that. This is a burden that this country can not bare. We are not providing for our own people like we should, but these illegals are well provided for by this country. They are given food stamps, medical cards, most of them get free housing. they go to our schools and are instructed, most of the time in their own language. We now have to press one for English on the phone and even now it is starting to where you have to press English on the ATM machine. If someone sneaks over the border into Mexico from The United States they are locked up, most of the time, and the key threw away. Something is just not right here. If you have not noticed the problem grows worse daily.

I will agree, to their credit, that they will work for a lot less than most Americans. They can do this by five and six families living in the same house sharing everything. The food bill. electric bill, heat bill, and rental payments are split five or six ways. Even though it is illegal for them to live like that nothing is said. You let some Americans do that and they would be in court. Most of them drive with no insurance and switched tags. That is another big saving for them. There is no way the average American can compete with that. We had better wake up America or else we will be living in the new expanded Mexico. Let me say before I go on that I do not hate or dislike the Mexican people. But I do believe there is a right way and a wrong way to do things. We abide by the law, what makes them any different? Not only is our economy under a strain, so is our social security.

What are they bringing with them from Mexico when they come? Stop and think about it. We here of the gangs from Mexico, that deal in drugs and death. These gangs are now in every state. When they are caught and released on bail they go back to Mexico and come back with a new identify and start all over again. How long will this go on? We already have enough of our own drug traffic, we do not need Mexico's also.

Let me say this to those of you that say they are our brothers and sisters and they need our help. I am a Christian and I believe that we should help our fellow man. Christ told us to do that and we must. But let me say this, help them by packing them a lunch and sending them back were they came from. If they are hungry feed them. If they are sick care for them until they are better, pray for them and ask God to have mercy on them, do like the good Samaritan did, POUR IN THE OIL AND THE WINE, but send them back home and let the church in their own country do their duty. Let the Mexican government take care of them. We can not continue to go on this way. We have enough people to take care of.

Lastly, I want to pass this on to you. I heard on WCBM Radio today (December 2, 2008) that our president elect has nominated two women, (who are totally for the illegals), for cabinet positions. One women is the governor from Arizona who is for open borders and the other women, from California, is actually campaigning for parts of the United States to be returned to Mexico. We are in for some bad times. The president elect also wants to give all the illegals amnesty. This will happen because he has a Democrat Congress.

We are now about to see the most liberal Congress and president in the history of our nation. They will most certainly continue to let the illegals in. It is mainly for their votes.
Please do not get me wrong, it is not the Mexican people that I dislike. It is the ones that come into our country the wrong way that I do not like and then it is not them I do not like, because as a Christian I'm to love everybody, which I do. It is the way they come here that I have bad feelings about. The ones that come the right way are mostly good citizens.
THERE IS A RIGHT WAY AND A WRONG WAY TO DO THINGS! The wrong way will lead to the destruction of this country and the right way will add greatness to this country.

We don't need a society of vandals
