In fact, he's been rather outspoken about his dislike of other religions.

Then again, maybe I'm wrong. Maybe Bill meant to say that America should follow Glen Beck and search for the truth in the Bible and the Book of Mormon (both equally inspired documents of course) because that's where Beck finds his answers--in both books.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03548311391210206507noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4319166273256707121.post-63974276638760120122010-08-30T15:04:26.765-04:002010-08-30T15:04:26.765-04:00Thank you Bill for your wonderful article. He is telling the truth and most people will agree with you. There must be a coming together and over 300,000 people says something.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4319166273256707121.post-65734525704950077942010-08-30T13:24:25.392-04:002010-08-30T13:24:25.392-04:00Jefferson once wrote: "In 1769 I became a mem...Jefferson once wrote: "In 1769 I became a member of the legislature by the choice of the county in which I live, & continued in that until it was closed by the revolution. I made one effort in that body for the permission of the emancipation of slaves, which was rejected: and indeed, during the regal government, nothing liberal could expect success. Our minds were circumscribed within narrow limits by an habitual belief that it was our duty to be subordinate...to direct all our labors in subservience to her interests, and even to observe a bigoted intolerance for all religions but hers. The difficulties with our representatives were of habit and despair, not reflection & conviction."

Believe it or not, Jefferson esteemed liberalism, and thought that the keys to success for this fledgling settlement were tolerance, and equality for all people.

Sometimes I think we've forgotten what the fathers actually said, and we cite them for all kinds of ideas that they would have roundly and systematically rejected. I'd encourage you to check out Jefferson in his own words instead of taking the entertainer Glen Beck's word for everything.

http://www.amazon.com/Thomas-Jefferson-Writings-Autobiography-Addresses/dp/094045016X/ref=sr_1_5?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1283188977&sr=1-5Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03548311391210206507noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4319166273256707121.post-15173817847151102532010-08-30T13:11:43.348-04:002010-08-30T13:11:43.348-04:00You do know that Beck is a Mormon, right? You do know that Beck is a Mormon, right?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03548311391210206507noreply@blogger.com
